  • Julian Assange Is Set To Be Booted From The Ecuadorian Embassy Within Days

In a tweet, WikiLeaks claims it has been told by two senior Ecuadorian officials that Mr Assange is to be expelled imminently.

Mr Moreno said Mr Assange did not have the right to "hack private accounts or phones" and could not intervene in the politics of other countries, especially those that had friendly relations with Ecuador.

Ecuador past year established new rules for Assange's behavior while in the embassy, which required him to pay his medical bills and clean up after his pet cat.

WikiLeaks indicated on Friday that its founder Julian Assange is likely to be expelled from the Ecuador Embassy in London, where he has taken asylum since 2012, in the wake of INA papers leak.

Moreno is also said to have tried trade Assange's release for United States debt relief, Wikileaks said.

Although the case has recently been dropped, Assange remained in the embassy for fears of extradition to the United States, where he is facing criminal charges over his work with the whistleblowing site.

But supporters of Mr Assange were gathering in numbers outside the embassy on Friday, at one stage a van was parked alongside them with placards that said "Free Speech" and featured images of Mr Assange and convicted classified document leaker Chelsea Manning.

WikiLeaks has denied that it published the anonymous papers, though the Ecuadorian government has responded harshly to the allegations.

British Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt said Assange "can leave that embassy whenever he wants to, so we want the situation resolved as quickly as possible".

An informed source said the special rapporteur would also investigate allegations made by Assange that his privacy had been violated during his time holed up in the embassy.

Supporters of Mr Assange, including his mother, are reportedly gathered outside the Ecuadorian Embassy in protest.

He added: "Assange can not lie or, much less, hack into private accounts or private phones".

"The "#INApapers" refer to documents leaked in February, which exposed an alleged offshore tax haven - the INA Investment Corp. - created by Moreno's brother.

"He perceives, and he's right, the Americans have an extradition going on. and so if he is evicted from the embassy, he'll be taken in the hands of the British police to await an extradition by America".

Meanwhile, Ecuador's foreign affairs minister has dismissed the reports of Assange's imminent expulsion from the embassy as "unfounded rumours".

Sweden dropped the charges against Assange late 2017, and the Australian became and Ecuadorean citizen in December that year.
