After an intense public backlash, Cook County State's Attorney Kim Foxx said Friday night that she is open to an outside investigation into her office's dramatic decision to dismiss all charges against Smollett.

Foxx has defended her office's handling of the case, saying there was nothing unusual about disposing of the case without a guilty plea, even though prosecutors stand by the decision to indict Smollett.

Greenberg said following Avenatti's arrest that his role in delivering the tape to prosecutors should be called into question in light of the new allegations. "I just hope he gets the help he needs", she says.

The second sketch on Saturday Night Live this weekend pulled no punches and brilliantly tackled the downright freaky saga of Jussie Smollett. "I got attacked... again".

Prosecutors admitted while they are no longer charging Smollett, they believe he staged the fake hate crime.

"I think it makes it more hard for a friendly disposition because they're going to be extremely reluctant to admit they brought these cases with scant evidence or that there are any other problems", Greenberg told TMZ. Smollett has maintained his innocence and said he has been "truthful and consistent" since the saga began.

Smollett had faced 16 felony counts alleging he lied to police about a racial and homophobic attack against him in January. Still, Smollett, who is black and gay, was written out of the final episodes of the season. The decision to drop charges has led to harsh criticism from the Chicago mayor, police and outside district attorneys. Smollett said the assailants placed a noose around his neck and poured bleach on him, according to police.

The union representing Chicago's finest is rallying after the state attorney's office dropped charges against "Empire" actor Jussie Smollett, who had been accused of staging a hate-crime against himself.

Sources very close to the criminal case against R. Kelly in Chicago tell The Blast they have absolute faith in Foxx to handle the R. Kelly case effectively, despite the negative attention garnered by the "Empire" star. However, they were met by The Chicago Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression.
