  • Police Provide An Update In The Christchurch Shooting

The man charged over Friday's twin mosque attacks in the New Zealand city of Christchurch is believed to have acted alone, police say.

Suspected New Zealand mosque shooter Brenton Tarrant could be deported to Australia as it is revealed he is facing additional murder and terrorism charges.

'Charges have been laid, we can expect additional charges, he'll be appearing in the High Court on the 5th of April, so there's obviously a process that needs to be gone through here, ' she said.

It also emerged that the alleged perpetrator bought four weapons online from a gun store in Christchurch.

None of the guns sold were military-style, semi-automatic weapons, according to Mr Tipple.

Police Commissioner Mike Bush said officers had finally been able to share a list of victims with families, something delayed by the need for careful police work and the sheer scale of the tragedy.

Fifty people were killed and dozens wounded at two mosques in Christchurch on Friday. A Radio New Zealand report said more than 99 percent of people who applied for a firearms licence in 2017 were successful.

For nearly three days forensics teams, many flown in from across New Zealand, have been working through multiple crime scenes - at the Al Noor and Linwood mosques as well as a house in Dunedin, the southeastern city where the suspected gunman, Brenton Tarrant, lived.

"We detected nothing extraordinary about this licence holder", Tipple said.

New Zealand First is part of the ruling coalition along with Ardern's Labour Party.

"This is an issue that goes well beyond New Zealand but it doesn't mean we can't play an active role in seeing it resolved". "Once you obtain a license you can purchase a lot of firearms and there is no record of how many firearms you actually own". A government-funded gun buyback and a virtual ban on owning semi-automatic rifles cut private gun ownership by nearly a third.

Tightening New Zealand's gun laws is at the top of Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern's agenda as she meets with her cabinet on Monday.

New Zealand's firearm laws have remained largely unchanged since 1992, though subsequent government reviews have called for reforms.

On Monday, when asked about gun advertising featuring children, Tipple said he was "acting to change that".

The burial process, which usually involves washing with three kinds of water, salving wounds and scrubbing skin, would be complicated, volunteers in Christchurch said.

"It absolutely staggers me that a sign like that is allowed to be put out, advertising guns with a couple of kids", said Richard Griffiths, whose medical practice is near the Linwood Mosque where seven were killed. "But it is at the discretion of the family", said Mo.

Once identification is complete the names will be made public, Bush said.

A massacre at two mosques on Friday has left 50 dead and another 50 hurt.

"You know I have lots of support, lots of love, lots of kindness from all of the New Zealand people".

"In the first 24 hours, we removed 1.5 million videos of the attack globally, of which over 1.2 million were blocked at upload", Facebook said in a tweet late Saturday.

Hundreds visited the sites of the shootings, performing songs, bringing flowers and food, and offering condolences.
