The royal family is putting out some new rules for how we all interact with them on social media!

"Arguments about who looks more appropriate, for example, that turn into personal attacks on other users", they say, citing an example where one user told another to "drink bleach" during an argument.

According to the guidelines, comments posted on any of the Palace's official pages can not contain spam or deceive others.

"Comments must not: contain spam, be defamatory of any person, deceive others, be obscene, offensive, threatening, abusive, hateful, inflammatory or promote sexually explicit material or violence", the guidelines read.

On Twitter and Instagram, the comments section has regularly descended into abuse of both Duchesses, with the Duchess of Sussex subjected to racist comments on top of the sexist and offensive words aimed at both her and the Duchess of Cambridge.

In addition, comments centred around the discrimination of race, sex, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation or age will not be tolerated.

Be off-topic, irrelevant or unintelligible. As per a CNN report, the royal family reached out to social media firms to help them in tackling online abuse in January.

While there was no explanation as to why the guidance had been issued now, there has been rising abuse of Kate and Meghan since the former USA actress married Harry last May. Similarly, their own fans were targeting each other with online abuse. The March 4 announcement comes after months of trolling of specific members of the family, including the Duchess of Cambridge and the Duchess of Sussex.

The Royal family had to resort to similar measures back in 2016 when Prince Harry and Markle went public with their relationship.

But even before Meghan married Harry past year, the American and self-proclaimed feminist found herself at the center of unwarranted attention.

Moreover, he referred to the commentary as "outright sexism and racism", and said that he was anxious about Markle's safety. The duchess and former American actress is expecting her first child with Prince Harry this spring.

Meghan has reportedly been the target of abusive comments, including racial slurs.
