The trade, which was agreed on Wednesday after talks begun on Monday, can not be processed until the new NFL league year begins on March 13, with the teams prohibited from publicly discussing it before then.

With the Denver Broncos having agreed to acquire Joe Flacco in a trade with the Baltimore Ravens on Wednesday, there is now one less National Football League team in search of a starting quarterback this season. It allows them enough time to find their potential quarterback of the future and have some level of safety when Keenum's deal is over following this season. He flopped in his first season leading the Broncos offense after a tremendous season in Minnesota boosted his free-agency value. He led the team to 5 straight playoff appearances in his first 5 seasons, capped off by his magical run in the 2012 playoffs where he became just the second player in National Football League history to throw 11 touchdowns with no interceptions in the playoffs. Former Broncos' exec Gary Kubiak also was a Flacco fan, and has mentioned how much he liked the soon-to-be Broncos' quarterback.

Flacco was a first-round draft pick out of DE and won NFL Rookie of the Year Honors in 2008.

Stay tuned to The Spun as more details and reaction to this trade become available. In return for Flacco, the Broncos will send Baltimore a 2019 fourth round pick.

The #Broncos are sending a mid-round pick to the #Ravens for QB Joe Flacco, source said.

Without needing to use a first-round pick on a quarterback, the Broncos will likely address one of their other positions of need. He ultimately lost his starting job to rookie Lamar Jackson.
