Respawn working on more Titanfall for "later in the year"

  • Those A's in the Titanfall logo are similar to the new Apex reveal

Over the weekend, the surprise reveal of a new battle royale game called Apex Legends was spoiled by the many influencers and YouTubers that developer Respawn Entertainment invited to play the game ahead of its launch. Respawn has also stated that first season for Apex Legends will begin in March.

According to the official FAQ, those seasons are scheduled to last for around three months.

Although Apex Legends is based in the Titanfall universe, players won't find themselves utilizing the famed Titan exoskeletons.

I'm all for new modes, as long as majority are still squad-oriented (I like playing Lifeline, the medic, and she wouldn't be much fun solo).

The game will feature a seasonal content roadmap, with new Legends and weaponry coming on a quarterly basis. All skins in the game will also be available for direct purchase, so you don't necessarily have to rely on RNG.

In a recent interview with Game Informer, Apex Legends executive producer Drew McCoy denied any heavy-handed tactics by EA, saying the decision to do a battle royale game was entirely Respawn's...

Reportedly a Titanfall game without the mechs.

With Apex Legends using a free-to-play model, microtransactions are a part of the picture. Running, sliding, climbing and shooting simply feel fluid and satisfying in a similar way that Titanfall does, and the game's myriad of unique player abilities, from smoke bombs to invisibility, bring Respawn's previous shooter to mind.

McCoy also commented on how Apex Legends came together as a project and, surprisingly, it wasn't at the behest of EA.

For now, the livestream is mostly showing pictures of the in-game environment you can expect to battle it out on - and it's all very pretty. You can try out the game free for yourself right now, and there's even a bonus pack of goodies for PS Plus subscribers.
