Justice Dept. charges Huawei with fraud, ratcheting up U.S.-China tensions

Huawei is also charged in a separate case with stealing trade secrets from T-Mobile, according to federal prosecutors.

In a 13-count indictment in Brooklyn, New York, the government alleged Huawei, two affiliated companies and Chief Financial Officer Wanzhou Meng of bank and wire fraud as well as conspiracy in connection with business in Iran.

The charges include bank fraud, conspiracy to commit wire fraud and violating the International Emergency Economic Powers Act.
