That ruling found that certain state laws outlawing abortion were an unconstitutional violation of a woman's right to privacy, effectively legalizing abortion nationwide.

"You know, it's not just about speeches that we give or where we show up", Pence told attendees of the March for Life annual Rose Dinner. "And we have the support to uphold those vetoes", he said.

This year's theme is "Unique from Day One." with an emphasis on the connections between science and the anti-abortion cause.

Pence was the source of inspiration to pro-life activists for a second time Friday as he had addressed the March for Life rally earlier in the day when he made a surprise visit to speak to thousands of pro-life marchers participating in the annual event.

After Pence spoke, Trump spoke to the marchers via video - and promised them that "as president, I will always defend the first right in our Declaration of Independence, the right to life".

"We're finally going have in the Senate what the House has had for many years, so that the House and the Senate can work together on having a more strategic approach in how we're going to move pro-life policies to the president's desk", Daines told the National Review prior to the rally.

A column in Media Matters stated, "For years, the anti-abortion movement and its allies in right-wing media have erroneously and frequently claimed that anti-choice arguments are supported by science", calling on media outlets to scrutinize the sources of those claims. He offered the opening prayer for the march and also urged the crowd to go "change the world!" For decades, they have prayed passionately and stood tirelessly for the sanctity of life, speaking up for those who can not speak for themselves.

"We're growing and inspiring a rising generation with our message of generosity and compassion, and life is winning", he said, adding that the movement for life has "reached another level of optimism".

Conservative commentator and author Ben Shapiro will be the event's headline speaker, according to the Catholic News Agency. Americans with disabilities like Down syndrome are an inspiration, and their example of joy and perseverance enriches our lives. The media "will ignore us", Shapiro continued, and will pay more attention to "the five who show up tomorrow", referring to the Women's March scheduled for January 19 in Washington.

As the March for Life rally was about to get underway, Caitlyn Dixson of Des Moines, Iowa, stood not too far from the main stage.

One marcher said she had had an abortion at the age of 17 but had been opposed to abortion ever since she became religious.
