Frazee was initially reported to have been cooperating with authorities in the search for Berreth, who was last seen shopping with her 1-year-old daughter at a Safeway supermarket in Woodland Park, according to surveillance video that showed her entering the store.

It's unclear what charges Frazee faces.

"We encourage law enforcement to take whatever steps it deems necessary to find Kelsey Berreth and to be able to exclude Patrick Frazee as a possible suspect in this missing person investigation", Loew's statement said.

Berreth, a 29-year-old mother of a 1-year-old girl, was last seen on Thanksgiving in the area of her Woodland Park home.

De Young said the child is in protective custody and will be turned over to Berreth's family.

"Like most relationships, it has ups and downs but for the most part it's a good relationship", Frazee's lawyer said of his client's relationship with Berreth when he spoke to Inside Edition earlier.

"She's not the kind that runs off", mother Cheryl Berreth said at a press conference on December 10.

Police said that a search of Berreth's home on Thursday night turned up "suspicious" items and brought them to a point where they could arrest Frazee.

Frazee, who did not live with Kelsey, told police that he last saw his fiancée on that same Thanksgiving Day when they met up so he could take their daughter in an exchange. De Young said they are working to recover her phone. "That's the last time Kelsey was seen", he said.

Berreth's phone was tracked to a location near Gooding, Idaho.

Commander Greg Couch, a spokesman for the Teller County Sheriff's Office, tells CBS News his department assisted in serving an arrest warrant on Frazee at his home in the community of Florissant, Colorado. Frazee also said she texted him that day, but the contents of that text haven't been released. "This is completely out of character", Cheryl Berreth said.

"She's not the kind that runs off", Cheryl Berreth said at a police news conference on December 10.

Family and friends started a Facebook page to spread and gather further information on her whereabouts.

Berreth also sent a text message to her employer after Thanksgiving stating she would not be at work the following week. "She's reliable, considerate, and honest".

The arrest came after the investigation of cell phone records and data, in addition to searches of Berreth's home, officials said.

"This has been a methodical and time consuming multi-state operation with investigators working almost around the clock to find Kelsey".

A multijurisdictional task force made up of numerous law enforcement agencies, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation, served the warrant at Frazee's 35-acre ranch in Florissant.
