  • Pochettino Sympathizes With Sacked Mourinho Dismisses United Job Rumours

There's absolutely no doubting Mauricio Pochettino has done a fantastic job at Tottenham so far. Tottenham improved a lot with him.

The January transfer window swings open in a couple of weeks, and there will no doubt be a catalogue of clubs scrambling around for his signature.

This one has a Carabao Cup semi-final place at stake and given the opposition, Pochettino may not be so prolific with his changes to the side.

"The sacking of Jose Mourinho is as a result of what happened last summer", explained Neville. What's going to happen tomorrow? "What more do I need to say [to fans]?"

"From that point of view, I don't think anyone could argue with his pedigree".

Pochettino, preparing for Wednesday's League Cup quarter-final at Arsenal, emphasised he is happy at Tottenham, where he has earned a reputation as one of the brightest young coaches in the world.

At United, he'd be backed with huge funds to rebuild their squad and Pochettino arguably has a better chance of competing for major honours at Old Trafford than he does if he was to stay at Tottenham.

However, a permanent replacement would be more ideal for the club and the United faithful.

Tottenham Hotspur moving to extend Jan Vertonghen's contract by another year was huge.

I suppose, on paper, a draw at United doesn't look too bad but when you reflect, to lead twice, perhaps a better team might have been more clinical and won the game given also United's form and predicament.Huddersfield was a struggle but they got there in the end with a late goal.

But while he is surprised at Solskjaer's appointment, he believes the former United striker can bring a welcome man-management emphasis until the end of the season. "I am not creating rumours, I am here".

"We need to assess him because he had a cold and he didn't go outside to train", Pochettino told a news conference. We're focused and we're going to be focused on our job. I accept opinion when you win and people praise you. Here's £100 million, £200m, £500m - and then what does the manager want?

"For us at the moment, it was and is so important to set the club in a very good position in the Premier League, with access to play in the Champions League".

"I think his performance at Tottenham is very big".

"Their level now is very big".
