United States intelligence officials have concluded that bin Salman, the kingdom's de factor leader, ordered the October 2 killing, according to a USA official familiar with the assessment.

Saudi Arabia's crown prince will participate in a G20 summit in Argentina at the end of the month, Al Arabiya television reported on Monday.

Meanwhile, he accused Turkey of promoting "empty illusions" while it "ignores" the demands of the Saudi Public Prosecution who asked for the "alleged" recordings or any others proofs about Khashoggi's killing.

"The United States government is determined to hold all those responsible for the killing of Jamal Khashoggi accountable", the State Department said in a statement on Saturday.

According to al-Shalan, Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman knew nothing of the operation.

Salah Khashoggi, right, the son of murdered Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, and his relatives receive mourners at an events hall in the Saudi coastal city of Jeddah, Nov. 16, 2018.

The president said that "representatives of Saudi Arabia say that Jamal Khashoggi was an "enemy of the state" and a member of the Muslim Brotherhood". He pointed out that the USA has imposed individual sanctions on 17 Saudis identified by Riyadh for their alleged involvement in the 2 October murder.

The remains of Khashoggi, a Washington Post columnist and critic of the crown prince, have still not been located. "Very simply, it is called 'America First'".

Retiring Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ) noted that if, as Trump claims, Saudi Arabia was truly a great ally, they wouldn't "plot the murder of journalists" and "lure their own citizens into a trap, then kill them". "In any case, our relationship is with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia", he said.

He said he would listen to their ideas, but only if they are focused on U.S. national security.

But at the weekend, the state department said the U.S. government was yet to reach a final conclusion on the killing, with "numerous unanswered questions" remaining.

We have already sanctioned 17 Saudis known to have been involved in the murder of Mr. Khashoggi, and the disposal of his body, ' he said.

Rep. Carolyn B. Maloney, a Democrat from NY, tweeted that "President Trump's refusal to accept the CIA's assessment that MBS not only knew about but ORDERED the assassination of #Khashoggi is a betrayal of the American intelligence community and yet another clear indicator of his disdain for freedom of the press". The official said the government's reporting was being updated daily.
