  • 30 people hurt after floor collapse in Clemson

At least 30 people, including many Clemson University students, were injured at a crowded party in SC when the floor at an apartment complex suddenly collapsed underfoot.

Students could be seen plummeting from the first floor into the basement, while others attempted to jump to safety, but a lot of them were unsuccessful.

In the video footage posted on social media, people were shouting and dancing before the floor caved in. People were under other people.

The collapse happened on the first floor of a building at The Woodlands of Clemson, a neighborhood a few minutes from campus, just before 12:30 a.m.

Thirty people were hurt after a floor collapsed during a house party early Sunday. People fell through the ground and landed on the floor below.

Some 30 people were taken to three area hospitals, ABC news reported. He warned his friends and suggested a retreat to the balcony but the floor collapsed before they could make it. "Nobody was trapped", he said. Police told the outlet that none of the injuries were life threatening.

Clemson University President Jim Clements said on Twitter that he is monitoring the situation, and the school tweeted that student affairs representatives were sent to the hospitals where the injured were taken.

Police arrived at the Woodlands Apartments complex, where the incident occurred, soon thereafter.
