On Friday, Gaza health officials said Israeli forces killed seven Palestinians in protests along Gaza's border.

At least 50 protesters were injured by Israeli fire, Gaza media outlets reported.

Israeli soldiers have killed more than 200 Palestinians in the clashes, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, with thousands of others injured.

The Palestinian Authority, run by Fatah in the West Bank, accused Qatar of defying the Palestinian government by paying for the diesel fuel needed to keep power plants in Gaza running.

Egypt and the United Nations had sought a deal whereby Hamas ended the protests in exchange for an easing of Israel's crippling blockade.

Four Palestinians were killed along the border east of Al-Bureij in the centre of Gaza, while one died east of Gaza City and one near Rafah in southern Gaza, a ministry spokesman told AFP.

"The strength of will and the determination of our people in the March of Return will lead to victory over the crimes of the occupation", he said while attending funerals for those killed in Friday's violent riots.

In May, about 60 protesters were killed in a single day, making it one of the deadliest since a 2014 war between the two sides. Israel said its troops had shot a group who broke through the fence with a bomb and attacked an army post.

A Palestinian assailant armed with a knife attacked the soldier, 32, outside of the Shomron Regional Brigade headquarters in the northern West Bank, near the settlement of Itamar.

Palestinian terrorists attacked Jewish villages and towns in the area with incendiary balloons, increased stabbing attacks on IDF soldiers and also resumed shooting attacks on Israeli soldiers and citizens.

In Gaza, funerals were held for seven Palestinians shot dead by Israeli troops during Friday's weekly protest.

Hamas, an Islamist terror group that rules the Gaza Strip and actively calls for Israel's destruction, has created new units tasked with sustaining tensions along the border fence including during nighttime and early morning hours.

Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh pledged that the border violence would continue, saying, "Woe to you if you stop the march of return before the siege is lifted".
