Thunder-Bolt strikes twice for Mariners

13 October, 2018, 00:58 | Author: Lula Armstrong
  • Usain Bolt will get the chance to show he belongs in the A League when he starts for the Mariners on Friday night

But the Jamaican has crossed a point that most of us never will in our lives, scoring a pair of goals for a professional footballing outfit.

While Bolt scored two, he also missed a couple with some nice headers and attempts.

"It caught me by surprise".

Just look at this card and tell me you wouldn't buy it. "I've learnt how to set my body and where to place the ball". Bolt said he wanted to wait and see whether Friday's game secured him a spot on the team.

"I am just happy to get the chance and go out there and start, and do my best because that is the key thing".

"He's mixed in with everybody fantastically well". He's finally shown the world what he is capable of, but he clearly still has a long way to go.

The world's fastest man over 100 or 200 meters has made it clear that he's a fan of Fortnite after celebrating in his first professional football match. From a narrow angle, he pulled the trigger with his left boot, but it was blocked and then gathered by grateful keeper Eze Consoni. In the 40th minute, he headed a promising cross inches wide of the post. Friday's match was Central Coast's final friendly of the season. The Mariners' next game is an A-League match on October 21.

Meanwhile, the A-League season will start next weekend and Central Coast Mariners are now expected to make big decision on the future of Usain Bolt with them.

The chances were coming thick and fast for the nine-time gold medal victor, playing a one-two with McCormack only to whiff on the return ball in a glorious position.

About 15 minutes later, Macarthur's defenders clashed with the goalkeeper, and the ball spilled loose for Bolt to walk it into the net.

He promptly produced his famous lightning bolt celebration.

Bolt doubled his tally in the 69th minute with a routine tap-in.

He begged for five more minutes as he chased his hat-trick.

Calls for the eight-time Olympic champion sprinter to be offered a contract are growing, and while Bolt said he was pleased with his improvement he refused to label himself a pro yet.

"You've got to create moments for history to be made and that's what has happened - maybe 10 years from now I'll look back and think I can't believe that happened, but honestly I can barely believe it now".
