  • Trump BLASTS Brett Kavanaugh sexual assault claims as 'CON' and praises 'brilliant' judge

Today's subject line quote: President Donald Trump on Deborah Ramirez, the second woman to accuse Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual asasult.

Judge Kavanaugh and another accuser from his high school years this week testify before a US Senate panel.

White House officials believe that Kavanaugh's testimony put Democrats on the defensive and was strong enough to convince Republican senators who were on the fence to vote for him.

Thursday was already shaping up to be a split-screen day in addition to Kavanaugh's testimony, with the president also set to meet with Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and the possibility that Trump might fire the man who oversees the special counsel's Russian Federation investigation.

Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, considered a key vote on the Kavanaugh nomination, has said she would like to see Ramirez speak under oath to the committee but has not specified when she would like to see that happen.

"It's happened to me many times", he said, citing "four or five women" who "got paid a lot of money" to make those allegations. The President and his aides concluded that they have a narrowing window of time during which to push Kavanaugh through, before his nomination becomes even more tarnished. He also took aim at Senate Democrats, calling the entire ordeal "a big, fat con job".

Trump was in his element, sparring and joking with reporters as he addressed a host of issues, including the growing list of sexual misconduct allegations against his Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh, and the threat of war with North Korea.

The Senate Judiciary Committee is scheduled to begin a hearing featuring Blasey Ford at 10 a.m. Thursday.

Democrats meanwhile are fuming that Grassley won't schedule an appearance by Kavanaugh pal Mark Judge, who according to Ford was present in the bedroom where the alleged high school attack occurred.

The president also spared no punches in questioning the motives of Kavanaugh's accusers, their legal representatives and political backers.

More than a dozen women have accused him of sexual misconduct, which he denies. You know why? Because I've had a lot of charges made against me. "And they go into a room, and I guarantee you, they laugh like hell at what they pulled off on you and on the public".

While Trump has repeatedly weathered allegations from women, the Kavanaugh controversy presents the biggest challenge yet for Trump in the #MeToo moment.

President Donald Trump will be traveling back to the White House from NY during the opening hours of the hearing, which could keep him from watching live coverage of the full proceedings. "Just so you understand". She felt that everyone at Yale was very rich, very smart and very sophisticated and that as a Puerto Rican woman from a less privileged background she was an outsider.

He thinks they've been too accommodating to Ford - and now also wants them to accommodate Ramirez?

"We've had a good talk. Not to the American people".

It was far from the only time that Trump turned a question (OK, any question) at the press conference into a soliloquy about his greatness.

"They were not", Schumer said.
