He and one of the accusers, Christine Blasey Ford, will give evidence publicly on Thursday before the Senate Judiciary Committee.

"No it's - all we have is what I read", the investigator said.

"Take it from the commander in chief himself, who said of a day steeped in political, legal and judicial consequences: 'I think it's going to be a very, very, important day in the history of our country, ' President Donald Trump said in NY on Wednesday evening".

Republicans have been hoping to win confirmation for Kavanaugh by early next week.

Hill spoke with NPR's All Things Considered for a segment that aired Tuesday about her experience during the confirmation of then-Supreme Court nominee Clarence Thomas. "They were all shocked when Brett Kavanaugh shoved her friend up against the wall very aggressively and sexually".

The Democratic senators usually begin with a longwinded monologue that is more of the norm of the grandstanding that happens at these high profile hearings.

A spokesman for the Senate Judiciary Committee said lawyers for the panel were reviewing the declaration submitted by Swetnick, who said she has worked extensively for the federal government including the Treasury Department and Internal Revenue Service. While he declined to weigh in on whether Kavanaugh was fit for the nation's highest court, the governor said his accusers "deserve to be heard".

Ford says that at a house party, Brett Kavanaugh and another young man pulled her into a bedroom.

He said he feels that Republicans on the committee were "ambushed" by Democrats, who were "lying in wait" to politicize the issue and turn the hearing into a spectacle.

Kavanaugh, who was named by Trump to replace Justice Anthony Kennedy, who retired in July, has denied the allegations.

She continued: "I wouldn't characterize him as not friendly - he was just nervous and not really wanting to speak with me".

Kavanaugh has denied all the allegations against including those from Ford and those in The New Yorker.

The college professor kept her composure as she described how Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh allegedly sexually assaulted her when they were both in high school. But when it became clear Kavanaugh would likely be named to the high court, she said she faced a hard choice. "They know it is a big fat con job", Trump said.

"It's ridiculous. Total Twilight Zone".

The release also outlines a number of others the committee has interviewed, including friends of Kavanaugh and those who know the women who have lodged accusations against him.

While Mr Trump pledged to listen to the testimony of Mr Kavanaugh's accuser and even said he was open to changing his mind about his nominee, he made clear that he was deeply sceptical of these types of accusations.

On Wednesday, President Trump claimed a concerted effort by Democrats to drum up sexual-misconduct charges against Kavanaugh.

The US President has also a couple of times asserted the allegations are false.
