"It seems to me he wants to protect people who are involved in pornography and that he's running for president", Grassley said, adding that he didn't really know much about Avenatti.

In his tweet, he called Swetnick "courageous, fearless and honest" and asked that her privacy be respected. "This conduct included the fondling and grabbing of girls without their consent".

Avenatti's client Julie Swetnick says she observed Kavanaugh as a "mean drunk" harassing women at parties, including at "Beach Week" in Maryland.

Kavanaugh immediately and vehemently rejected the newest accusation, saying in a statement, "This is ridiculous and from the Twilight Zone".

The woman, Julie Swetnick, a Washington resident, is represented by lawyer Michael Avenatti, who revealed her identity on Twitter and posted her photograph.

Attorney Michael Avenatti revealed the identity of the third woman to accuse Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct, Julie Swetnick, whom he referred to as "courageous, fearless and honest".

I also witnessed efforts by Mark Judge, Brett Kavanaugh and others to cause girls to become inebriated and disoriented so they could then be "gang raped" in a side room or bedroom by a "train" of numerous boys.

Swetnick did not identify Kavanaugh or Judge as her attacker in that incident. I have a firm recollection of seeing boys lined up outside rooms and many of these parties waiting for their "turn" with a girl inside the room. On Wednesday, Avenatti released an explosive letter which he sent to Mike Davis, the Chief Counsel for Nominations on the US Senate Committee on the Judiciary.

Kavanaugh has passed six background checks and there is no indication that this allegation against him-or any like it-has never come up to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

The Republican committee staff also said that they will do a follow-up interview with Kavanaugh Wednesday.

Flake, a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, also said warned that his fellow panel members may "have to be prepared for the possibility, indeed the likelihood, that there will be no definitive answers to the very large questions before us" following Thursday's hearing.

"The committee is going to go ahead because I don't feel that we should disadvantage Dr. Ford any more than she's already been disadvantaged in the sense of people wondering whether the hearing was going to be last week or this week", Grassley told reporters on Wednesday. She said she was able to escape, and she described the episode to a therapist in 2013 as a "rape attempt". He says Kavanaugh should not be confirmed without a full investigation. She is the third woman to come forward to accuse Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct. No one has yet had an opportunity to delve further into Swetnick and her statement. If he will not, at the very least, the hearing and vote should be postponed while the FBI investigates all of these allegations.

Kavanaugh has repeatedly denied all of the allegations against him.

Ford is expected to step before cameras for the first time Thursday to detail the night she says Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her in the early 1980s.

Kavanaugh's history as a high school and college student has become increasingly relevant to his nomination to the Supreme Court in light of accusations of sexual assault by two women, Christine Blasey Ford and Deborah Ramirez.
