Apple announces 3 new iPhones, a new watch, not much else

The new iPhone XR features Apple's first Liquid Retina Display.

Apple's brand-new iPhone XS Max - unveiled on Wednesday - is super-sized in more ways than one. On the back of the device is a vertical camera setup which houses two cameras and a flash.

Apple has given the A12 bionic processor in both of these smartphones, which is a six-core chipset. Instead of using stainless steel like the iPhone X and XS, the XR uses 7000 series aluminium for its metal frame. Likewise, buyers will have to shell to Rs. 1,09,900, Rs. 1,24,900, and Rs. 1,44,900 for the 64GB, 256GB, and 512GB storage options of the iPhone XS Max, respectively. The new device will be available to pre-order beginning Friday, October 19 and in stores beginning Friday, October 26.

You can pre-order it in the United Kingdom on the 14 September and then it's available to buy in-store on the 21st September. Apple also shared that the second wave of shipment will begin on September 28. The watch gets new 40mm and 44mm size.

The iPhone XR will be available in three storage configurations - 64GB, 128GB and 256GB.

"When asked if they agreed with the statement "I would have paid even more for an iPhone X with a larger screen size had it been available" only five per cent strongly agreed and another 14 per cent said they somewhat agreed", she said. The iPhone XR has a single, wide-angle f/1.8 lens. However, that lower price means a lower quality screen as it also comes with an LCD screen rather than the more expensive OLED screen.

A Liquid Retina Display is a type of LCD display, now only found in the iPhone XR.

As that is impossible, and would be counter-productive to Apple's sales strategy, chief executive Tim Cook has pushed price levels up, anticipating that he would have to do that anyway. The other features remain more or less same as we had seen with the Apple Watch 3.

The iPhone XS comes with a 5.8-inch screen, as the iPhone X did. In the United States, it will get one physical SIM and one e-SIM option, whereas in markets like China and India, it will get a dedicated dualSIM slot for two physical sim cards.

iPhone XR comes in five colour options of white, black, blue, yellow and coral.

Dual rear camera is provided in iPhone XS and XS Max.

Despite being thinner you'll be pleased to know that the new Series 4 supports all the previous Apple Watch bands so at least you won't have to spend a fortune on new straps. While we didn't get to spend much time with the Apple Watch 4, it certainly is an improvement on the previous generation in terms of app support and other features.
