Fox News reports that Elon Musk and podcast host Joe Rogan were seen on camera during an interview smoking marijuana.

The billionaire spent two and a half hours on a podcast discussing everything from artificial intelligence and its impact on humankind to flamethrowers and social media.

Rogan explained to Musk that the object in hand was a mixture of tobacco and marijuana, describing it as "perfect and balanced".

"You probably can't [take a drag] because of stockholders, right?"

"It's legal right?" Musk asked, before Rogan said it was "totally legal" and the entrepreneur took a drag of the cigarette.

When The New York Times asked Musk if he was smoking when he made the tweet, Musk replied, "Weed is not helpful for productivity".

The interview took place in California, where both medical and recreational use is allowed, but it is still illegal on the federal level. Tesla and its CEO are now also facing a litany of lawsuits claiming market manipulation, including one filed Thursday by Andrew Left, a prominent short seller and the founder of Citron Research.

Elon Musk has added another bit of weird behaviour to the list by smoking a joint during a live interview.

The latest drop in Tesla's stock has caused Consumer Edge analyst James Albertine to call for the company to appoint another senior leader to support Elon Musk.

Morton's departure further roiled the company which has been under heightened scrutiny since Musk's chaotic announcement on August 7 on Twitter that he was considering taking Tesla private, a plan that was reversed two weeks later. The joint was provided to Musk by Rogan, who said it was legal.

Musk, seemingly referencing former president Bill Clinton, went to Twitter to say that to say, "remember, I did not inhale". "I don't think people would like it that much".

Tesla representatives were not immediately available for comment Friday morning. It said Morton had no disagreements with Tesla's leadership or financial reporting. They did the kind of things you'd expect people to do on Joe Rogan's podcast: they talked about the cosmos, the rise of AI, samurai swords, and drugs.
