  • 'Infowars' host Alex Jones insults U.S. Senator Marco Rubio, heckles reporter

Jones live streams the Senate Intelligence Committee hearing concerning foreign influence operations' use of social media platforms, on Capitol Hill, September 5, 2018 in Washington, D.C.

Jones - the founder of Infowars who has said the September 11, 2001, attacks were an inside job and that the 2012 massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School was a hoax - confronted Rubio as he was taking questions from the press on Wednesday. And he made quite the statement to Republican Senator Marco Rubio of Florida.

"Marco Rubio just threatened to beat me up", Jones tells his camera crew.

Rubio grew angry when Jones patted him on the shoulder, and told Jones not to touch him again.

Jones said the same thing Rubio warned about happening in China is occurring in the United States, referring to action taken last month by YouTube, Facebook, Spotify, and Apple to remove his site's content for violating their hate-speech rules.

In response, Rubio said he wouldn't need security's help if Jones kept touching him, saying "I'll take you out myself". "You are not going to silence me. You are like a little gangster thug".

As Rubio was speaking to the media about foreign interference in United States elections, Jones continuously pestered the senator with forceful questions, according to video of the encounter. "Hur hur hur. Little frat boy over here".

Twitter is permanently banning right-wing conspiracy theorist Alex Jones and his "Infowars" show for abusive behavior.

But the real takeaway from this encounter is that the de-platforming of Infowars is working-Jones is going to be reduced to stunts like this one to attract any attention.

For Jones, the appearance of top Facebook and Twitter executives was personal enough to bring his trolling out of the dark corners of the internet and into the halls of the House and Senate. I know cocktail shrimp with more backbone than him. You're not gonna silence America.

"I didn't say that", replied Rubio, who tried to turn back toward reporters.

Shot back Jones, "Go back to your bathhouse".

"We gotta go to the committee, you guys can talk to this clown", he said.
