Dramatic helicopter footage captures the shocking moment a mother crashes her vehicle and attempts to carjack while on the run with her baby.

Caitlyn Rodriguez reportedly sped away from police when they stopped her Mercedes-Benz SUV and discovered she was wanted.

Recently, the Texas Department of Public Safety presented a video of aviation operations at a Public Safety Commission meeting.

The resulting chase hit speeds near 100 miles per hour on several occasions and included the woman swerving into oncoming traffic lanes.

Once they made sure the child was clear of the vehicle, police handcuffed Rodriguez and brought her in to answer for her previous crimes and the events of that day.

She crashed into the back of a pickup truck, jumped out and retrieved the baby, auto seat and all, before fleeing on foot.

Rodriguez then allegedly tried to carjack another vehicle by jumping into the passenger's seat, carrying the infant in a auto seat the entire time.

According to TXDPS, Rodriguez had outstanding warrants and fled after a DPS trooper conducted a traffic stop. She allegedly then tried to carjack another vehicle by jumping into the passenger's seat, but it didn't work out so well. She eventually jumps into the passenger seat of a Nissan SUV just as police arrive and block the alleged attempted carjacking. A trooper then parks his vehicle in front of the auto Rodriguez allegedly tried to steal and draws his weapon and points it at the auto, directing the driver to unlock her door.

Rodriguez was arrested and faces several charges, including child endangerment, evading arrest, and possession of a controlled substance.

The baby was handed over to Child Protective Services.
