Trump's former lawyer is on a fast track to being disbarred in NY following his guilty plea Tuesday on 8 federal counts, including tax evasion and campaign law violations. according to a source familiar with the process.

Lanny Davis told MSNBC that Cohen is "more than happy" to speak with the special counsel about "the obvious possibility of a conspiracy to collude and corrupt the American democracy system in the 2016 election", as well as other Russia-related subjects.

Lanny Davis, an attorney for Cohen, said in an interview with the PBS NewsHour on Wednesday morning that his client had agreed to cooperate with federal prosecutors and share whatever he knows about the campaign's dealings with Russian Federation.

On Tuesday, Cohen plead guilty to eight counts, including two campaign finance violations, and told a federal judge that he arranged the payments to Daniels and McDougal "in coordination with and at the direction" of Trump.

The charges against Manafort were brought by special counsel and respected former Federal Bureau of Investigation director Robert Mueller, who is investigating Russia's role in tipping the 2016 presidential election in Trump's favor.

Paul Manafort, Trump's former campaign chairman, was convicted Tuesday of tax and financial fraud.

Mr. Cohen said he organised hush money for two porn stars, who allegedly had sexual relations with Mr. Trump, who directed him to pay them off.

Both are connected to the investigation of Special Counsel Robert Mueller, who has been looking into interactions between Trump associates and Russian officials, as well as Russia's alleged interference in the 2016 presidential election. Davis also said Cohen was willing to share more information about campaign finance violations.

Cohen, who previously said he would "take a bullet" for the US President, agreed to making a plea bargain earlier on Tuesday.

UPDATED, 3:05 p.m. August 22: Michael Cohen, the beleaguered former personal attorney to President Trump, sold stakes in two apartment buildings in the East Village and Upper East Side totaling $12.9 million, records filed with the city Tuesday and Wednesday show.

"Doesn't involve me", Trump told reporters.

Cohen, 51, appeared at a Manhattan court to enter the guilty plea of wilfully causing an unlawful campaign contribution and one count of making an excessive campaign contribution.

Cohen faces a prison sentence of 46 to 63 months, according to court filings.

This morning, Trump lashed out at Cohen in a series of tweets attacking a man who he once embraced as one of his closest confidantes.

The office of House Speaker Paul Ryan said it was "aware of Mr Cohen's guilty plea to these serious charges" but would need "more information" to be able to comment.

There were dramatic developments in two cases that arose from special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation, within minutes of each other. "Unlike Michael Cohen, he refused to "break" - make up stories in order to get a 'deal'".

Trump did not mention Cohen at a rally in West Virginia hours later.

They did not know the details of the agreement. "Witch Hunt!" Trump wrote, referring to the counts on which the jury could not reach a unanimous decision.
