The addition of Alisson Becker from Roma for 75 million euros is a record fee for a goalkeeper, which adds the finishing touches to the squad.

Cape Town - Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp admits he has somewhat changed his opinion of big spending in football since criticising Manchester United for it.

When Manchester United signed Paul Pogba in 2016, Klopp was critical and adamant he would "even do it differently if I could spend that money".

Speaking before Liverpool's opening International Champions Cup match against Borussia Dortmund in North Carolina yesterday, Klopp said spending at the top end of the transfer market had moved on.

"Since I signed for Liverpool my dad has spoken to me a lot about how much he loved them", says Keita.

However, this season both Klopp and Liverpool have already made changes to the squad, as they prepare to challenge for the Premier League title for the first time since Luis Suarez left the club and with the likes of Mohamed Salah, Robert Firmino, and Sadio Mane, things look good for the Anfield side.

'I don't want to have them but I don't go nuts in those moments and think we have lost everything.

"My door is that wide open so why should I make a decision today?"

Can Jurgen Klopp lead Liverpool to ultimate glory this season?

"He has a contract at Dortmund, no?" Obviously he is a world-class goalkeeper, so we are not going to say: 'let's have a look.' He will play, of course.

Klopp makes it quite clear that fitness holds the key to Sturridge's future, with injuries blighting him so badly since the 2013/14 season.

"He had not his best season a year ago but he is still a decisive player".

He knows critics will be lining up should Liverpool wobble at any stage and it is how they deal with the hard moments that will determine what they can achieve. And he doesn't believe the physicality of the league will be a problem for him.

The 23-year-old Guinea star is set to form a formidable midfield alongside the likes of fellow new signing Fabinho, and captain Jordan Henderson.

"If he would at one point join us I don't know". Definitely this year we'll be pushing for more trophies. That's completely normal.' What is also normal is the rising pressure on Klopp.
