Downing Street has not yet reacted to Mr. Trump's remarks, the BBC reports.

Amid several protests over Trump's presence in the UK, the USA leader held a joint press conference with UK Prime Minister Theresa May, 61, earlier today.

He also praised one of May's political rivals, former foreign secretary Boris Johnson. He criticized the US President over his tweets following the terror attacks in London previous year.

Trump also said that he "would have done it much differently" in reference to the Brexit plan.

"I must say, I've gotten to know Theresa May much better over the last two days than I've known her over the past year and a half..."

"I don't think it provides a solution to Brexit but I think it is something that can provide an input into the negotiations".

Around 1,000 people gathered to watch the blimp launch in Parliament Square, with organisers of the stunt wearing red boiler suits and baseball caps emblazoned with "TRUMP BABYSITTER". In the interview, Trump pledged to walk away from a major US-UK trade deal and launched a personal assault on May.

"She's a very smart, very tough, very capable person", Trump said of May.

"It's not that we think that's a likely scenario. but we think it's prudent that every member state should plan for the worst", he told local media RTE while attending a meeting on rural development issues in the country's western county of Mayo. "I have a lot of respect for the PM", Trump said. "Our countries are meant to have a special relationship, yet you publicly criticized the prime minister's policy and her personally for not listening to you this week".

"I used to love London as a city", Trump said. "Once the Brexit process is concluded and perhaps the United Kingdom has left the European Union, I don't know what they're going to do but whatever you do is OK with me, that's your decision", Trump said.

They met on the dais in the castle's Quadrangle, and the U.S. national anthem was played on his arrival.

"I think she's a terrific woman", Mr. Trump told reporters at the joint press conference. "I haven't been there in a long time". At first, Mayor of London Sadiq Khan did not authorize its use, but he then changed his mind after more than 10,000 people signed a petition calling for him to do so.
