Donald Trump shares 'a very nice note' from Kim Jong

North Korean leader Kim-Jong-un has sent President Donald Trump a note expressing his satisfaction with last month's summit in Singapore, and his desire to meet again.

President Trump posted Kim's personal letter on social media Thursday, saying he just received a "very nice note from Chairman Kim of North Korea".

"I extend my conviction that the epochal progress in promoting the DPRK-US relations will bring our next meeting forward", Kim concludes, using the abbreviation for the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, the North's official name.

The President's release of the letter comes shortly after North Korean officials failed to show up to a meeting with USA leadership.

The Pentagon says Pyongyang has indicated several times they have as many as 200 sets of remains that could be those of USA soldiers who died in the war.

The repatriation of the remains of USA soldiers from North Korea has been a major issue between Washington and Pyongyang since the end of the Korean War, when thousands of Americans were left in Korea either missing in action or as prisoners of war.

The U.S. says North Korea has continued to smuggle refined petroleum products into the country in excess of the quota of 500,000 barrels per year allowed under United Nations sanctions imposed because of nuclear and missile programs.

Mr. Pompeo denied that the talks went poorly, telling pool reporters that progress was made "in every element of our discussions". Add North Korea as an interest to stay up to date on the latest North Korea news, video, and analysis from ABC News.

North Korea reportedly has the remains of about 5,300 United States soldiers who were killed during the Korean War, which ended with an armistice in 1953.

Following the North Koreans' no-show at Thursday's meeting, the U.S. state department said the two delegations had agreed to meet on 15 July. Pyongyang has asked the UN Command Armistice Commission to upgrade the talks to a higher level to include a US general, South Korea's foreign ministry said.

He was referring the summit statement signed by the two leaders - the first-ever U.S.

On Sunday, Pompeo seemingly shrugged off the bombastic statement and said the talks with North Korean officials were conducted in "good faith".

Pompeo travelled to Pyongyang for two days last week in a bid to flesh out denuclearisation commitments made during last month's historic summit. "It is likely that military generals from the USA and North Korea will take part in the meeting".
