July 1, 2018; Kildeer, IL, USA; Sung Hyun Park makes the winning put on the second playoff hole during the final round of the KPMG Women's PGA Championship golf tournament at Kemper Lakes Golf Club. But once Ryu made a double bogey on the 17th hole by hitting her tee shot into the hazard, she allowed Park and Hataoka to share the lead, forcing a sudden-death playoff.

The 24-year-old Park won the 2017 US Women's Open. In just 14 starts, she has amassed $932,952, which is second most on the LPGA this season.

As a co-leader after 36 holes, the opportunity existed for Brooke Henderson to add a second KPMG Women's PGA Championship to her resume.

"I did feel nerves going [into the playoff], but on the other hand, I haven't won a major yet, so I felt like I had nothing to lose", Hataoka said.

Jessica Korda watches her putt on the 17th hole during the second round of the KPMG Women's PGA Championship golf tournament at Kemper Lakes Golf Club in Kildeer, Ill., Friday, June 29, 2018.

She finished third at the Meijer LPGA two weeks ago and tied for ninth last week in the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship.

Aditi was well on way to positioning herself in the Top-10 at the halfway stage as she parred the first 15 holes and found her first birdie of the second round on the Par-4 16th hole.

Both Ryu and Park left themselves with birdie putts at the par-4 18th, but both narrowly missed the attempt that would have sealed the title.

In a span of three holes on the back nine on Saturday she went from trailing Henderson by two to leading by two strokes.

"She can move the ball as well as any player I have ever caddied for", he said. Her round included eight birdies and two bogeys as she vaulted 81 spots up the leaderboard.

Park slammed home a 7-foot birdie putt to win, as Ryu's birdie effort rolled past the left edge of the cup. "And I think the tournament is all about confidence".

Ryu was sporting in defeat, congratulating her opponent and insisting "one day I want to lift that trophy".

The New Zealander saw her faint hopes of contention disappear after she bogeyed the first two holes, before a slight correction when she birdied the par-3 3rd and par-3 6th.

"I tried to make as many birdies as I can, and I know it's hard out there with the wind being a little bit more up than yesterday", Ko said. Park's putter used to be 34 inches long, but she shortened it to 33 inches. She went right at the pin on the par-3 sixth off the tee and then made about a two-foot putt.
