IHOP flips name to IHOb: International House of Burgers

12 June, 2018, 00:33 | Author: Darnell Patrick

The 60-year-old pancake chain announced its decision to drop the Pancakes from its name, and has rebranded as the International House of Burgers. With prices coming down, the chain restaurant formerly known as IHOP said it's changing its name to highlight a renewed focus on the grilled American staple.

When it comes to those places that already sell burgers, the "B" stand more for "baffling".

"Dear Internet, we abbreciate your batience", the company said on Monday.

The International House of Pancakes has been around since 1958. It remains to be seen whether the change will be permanent or merely a flash in the pan (cake) to promote hamburgers.

Rebelez said that bringing burgers to an iconic restaurant like IHOP was a "fantastic combination". The name change, though, is meant to help the franchise connect with more people.

Many folks guessed the b would stand for brunch or bacon, so it's safe to say there may be some disappointed people.

The restaurant chain famous for pancakes will still serve flapjacks, but now it's serving steakburgers beginning today.

IHOb's revamped menu features seven different specialty steakburgers: The Jalepeno Kick, Cowboy BBQ, Classic with Bacon, Mega Monster, Mushroom & Swiss, Big Brunch and The Classic. When asked if IHOP was considering food-fusion menu items - remember Burger King's Whopperito or Taco Bell's Nacho Fries?
