Robin Williams was an award-winning actor, comedian and literally one of the funniest people in the world.

Directed by Marina Zenovich and produced by Alex Gibney and Shirel Kozak, Come Inside My Mind features interviews with Lewis Black, Billy Crystal, Pam Dawber, Whoopi Goldberg, Eric Idle, David Letterman, Steve Martin, David Steinberg, Williams' son Zak, and more.

A new trailer for the upcoming HBO documentary Robin Williams: Come Inside My Mind dropped on Thursday, featuring rare footage of the late comedian electrifying audiences with his stand-up routines as well as speaking about his personal issues. Martin then acknowledges that Williams, on stage, was "a master", but "off stage, it felt like he was holding himself together".

HBO today released the first trailer from the film, which makes its television premiere on July 16.

Williams died by taking his own life in August 2014 when he was 63 years of age.

Watch the trailer for "Robin Williams: Come Inside My Mind" below. "My father didn't always feel like he was succeeding", he says.

"Stand-up is survival, for me that's jazz, that's what I've to do", Williams' voice is heard saying in the trailer. I saw this at Sundance, and while it is deeply moving and heartfelt, it's a more straightforward doc and not as clever or unique as I was hoping.

A look at the life of the late and great comedian, the documentary delves into Robin Williams's private struggles.
