Well, for those of you accustomed to using YouTube for free, there will a free, ad-supported version of YouTube Music.

YouTube's music and video subscription services have been in a bit of mess lately. YouTube Music could be the company's attempt at reclaiming that top spot.

There have been many rumors in the past few months about a new YouTube Music service coming soon, and Google made it official today. Recent subscribers will keep access at their current price (for now), so even if you don't have it, you could register before Tuesday at the $10 per month rate in countries where Red is accessible. The new music subscription service is expected to become a replacement to Google Play Music by next year.

"If you are a subscriber to Google Play Music, good news, you get a YouTube Music Premium membership as part of your subscription each month", YouTube said on its blog. Google is also taking this opportunity to rebrand YouTube Red.

YouTube is launching its own music and video streaming services, in a bid to compete with the might of Spotify, Apple Music and Netflix.

There will be mobile and desktop app rolling out with the new platform as well.

YouTube plans to charge $2 more for its premium service, as it includes YouTube Music service along with its original shows. You can sign up to receive more information about launch dates here. YouTube Music will have one large advantage over its competitors, it already has a massive catalog of non-musical content.

Basically, under the new pricing system, there's no way to subscribe alone to premium video content alone.

On May 22, YouTube Music Premium and YouTube Premium launch in the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, and South Korea. What you want to focus on is YouTube Music and YouTube Premium. According to Recode, YouTube Music will still be offering a very similar service and will offer services like creating playlists based on user's YouTube history.
