  • Hamas says most of protesters killed were members

A large number of Palestinians gathered to protest on the Gaza Strip's eastern border to commemorate the Nakba anniversary and protest the relocation of the United States embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, which overturned decades of American foreign policy.

Referring to the Israeli military's massacre of more than 60 people who protested the move in Gaza on the same day, Khoshroo called for an end to the Israeli regime's "total impunity" in carrying out such acts.

They also stressed that the transfer of the USA embassy to Jerusalem will threaten the region's stability and global peace and security.

Hamas called Israel "the murderers of our people", and said Israel was "trying to improve its black image" by sending humanitarian aid.

"We can count on global media elites acting as little more than propaganda arms for Hamas and other terrorists and no week has that been more evident than this week", Cruz said.

But the Hamas official, Salah Bardawil, did not give further details about whether they were members of the group's armed or political wing, or what they were doing when they were killed.

Meanwhile many on the left, which represents about 15-20 percent of Israeli Jews, are critical of the methods used by the army and believe the protesters as motivated by hard living conditions rather than just wanting to support Hamas, she said. One Israeli soldier has been reported wounded.

Since the Gaza rallies began on 30 March, more than 100 Palestinian demonstrators have been martyred by cross-border Israeli army gunfire.

The Arab foreign ministers' meeting in Cairo came after Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Wednesday said his government was communicating with both sides "so that this bloodshed would stop".

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and the European Union have also called for an independent probe.

But Israel supporters across the political spectrum couldn't help but be moved on the deepest of emotional levels to see the United States finally recognize what we've always known, that Jerusalem is as central to the Jewish people's and Israel's identities as Washington is to America's.

In 1967, before Israel's victory in the Six Day War, 196,000 Jews lived in Jerusalem, compared to only 55,000 Palestinian Muslims.

Human rights groups say an affiliation with a militant group is irrelevant if they were unarmed and did not pose an immediate threat to the lives of soldiers when they were shot.
