  • Britain 'firmly committed to uphold Iran Nuclear Deal', says British PM

The United States escalated its financial pressure on Iran Tuesday by slapping terror sanctions on the head of its central bank and barring anyone around the world from doing business with him, underscoring President Donald Trump's hard line after his withdrawal from the Iranian nuclear accord upset European allies.

"It's going to take some time before we can ascertain what the impact will be, because we're going to have to wait and see what the response will be from Europe and how aggressive the USA will be", Brian Gallagher, head of investor relations at Euronav NV, one of the world's largest tanker owners, said by phone.

The sanctions, imposed by Trump on Tuesday, would also be backed up secondary sanctions which would penalise countries whose companies continue to trade with Iran. The government said the US pullout damages USA credibility on the world stage and the credibility of accords the US has signed, and puts "the present system of global law in serious danger". "It's clear that there should also be economic incentives - that will not be easy after the USA decision", Maas said.

Iran has said it is preparing to resume "industrial-scale" uranium enrichment "without any restrictions" unless Europe can provide solid guarantees that it can maintain trade ties despite renewed U.S. sanctions.

They would have to wind up investments by November or face United States sanctions.

The Iran nuclear deal was signed between six countries in 2015 - Iran, US, Britain, Germany, Russia, France and China for lifting economic sanctions on Tehran in exchange for limitations to the country's nuclear programme.

A prominent Iranian cleric is threatening two Israeli cities with destruction if the Jewish state "acts foolishly" and retaliates against it again.

Iranian hardliners are already mobilising against the government's efforts to save the nuclear deal.

In a 2016 meeting of the Council on Foreign Relation in Washington, Seif said Iran achieved "almost nothing" from the deal. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov made such opening remarks at talks with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran Mohammad Javad Zarif Moscow, today, on May 14.

The International Atomic Energy Agency has stated that Iran has passed investigations, and this has been consistently verified and documented.

The United States threatens to do something mindlessly destructive. The commission is expected to unveil them to European Union leaders at a summit in Sofia, Bulgaria, on Wednesday.

He also accused Trump of "ignorance and folly".

"They were shifting the balance of power in the Middle East until President Trump got out of this deal", he said adding that the policy of the administration is to make sure that Iran never gets close to a deliverable nuclear weapon.

"I m hopeful in the days and weeks ahead we can come up with a deal that really works, that really protects the world from Iranian bad behavior, not just their nuclear program, but their missiles and their malign behavior as well".

The Syrian Observatory of Human Rights said Saturday that 11 Iranians were among the pro-regime fighters killed in strikes by Israel, which has vowed to prevent Iran gaining a military foothold in neighbouring Syria. It also reiterated that the foreign minister is seeking "required guarantees" from the five other parties to the agreement as well as Iran's other economic parties.

"I am not prepared to evaluate the position of our Iranian counterparts concerning these developments", Ryabkov said when asked about Iran's compliance with the JCPOA.

German Economy Minister Peter Altmaier said he would work with affected companies to try to "minimise the negative consequences" of the U.S. move, adding: "That means, it is concretely about damage limitation".

In the CNN interview, Bolton did not respond directly when asked whether Trump might seek "regime change" in Iran, or whether the USA military would be ordered to make a pre-emptive strike against any Iranian nuclear facility. "We don't have much to threaten the Americans".
