These results have smashed this year's record of biggest opening to-date even overtaking Marvel's Black Panther, which brought in £50million in the United Kingdom and Ireland box offices this week, keeping it in the top ten films for its eleventh week. That would give Infinity War the second largest domestic debut in cinematic history. The Hollywood Reporter reveals that the Russo Brother directorial has recorded the biggest worldwide opening of all time with $630 million collection.

"Infinity War" also brought in an estimated $250 million domestically this weekend.

About $19.3 million Cdn is projected to come from Canada, making it the biggest opening weekend for a film in the country as well.

The studio is set to release the next installment of Avengers in 2019.

Other studios cleared their decks in anticipation, so there were no competing major releases this weekend. Here Avengers - Infinity War has gone all the way up with just around 2000 screens and it won't be surprising if there are more added to the count as days progress.

The success of Disney and Marvel's Black Panther could be a huge boost for Infinity War.

At this point, it's hard to see any film on the horizon possibly dethroning Infinity War's opening weekend title with the exception of Avengers 4 and/or Star Wars: Episode IX because in both cases people want to see how the story ends. "Avengers: Infinity War" displayed a small drop from its Friday's collections, but the numbers could rise on Sunday (holiday), and followed by Monday and Tuesday, which are also non-working holidays in some parts of India. The ones to do before were The Avengers (2012) with $207.4 million and Black Panther (2018) with $202 million.

"Infinity War" cost $300 million to make, according to Bloomberg Intelligence, and many tens of millions more to market. After ten years, 18 prior films and some $15 billion in box office, the weekend was an assured and long-awaited coronation for Kevin Feige's Marvel, the most dominant force in a Hollywood with precious few sure things.

In third place, STX's "I Feel Pretty" scored $8 million from 3,440 theaters in its second weekend.
