It's a revenge petition, Jaitley raps Congress

In a series of tweets, Congress Communications incharge Randeep Singh Surjewala said that UPA government had followed the constitutional procedure under the Judges Inquiry Act for removal of Justice Sourmitra Sen of Calcutta High Court and attached a video showing Jailtey supporting the impeachment move.

Mr Jaitley wrote the post after Congress-led seven opposition parties gave notice of impeachment of Justice Deepak Mishra to Rajya Sabha Chairman M.

"Mr. Jaitley, it's important to be "right" then to be on "right side of powers".

Mentioning that the Congress levelled baseless allegations against BJP President Amit Shah and misled the nation, he said, while responding to a query, that the matter has become an issue before Karnataka elections. Mr Jaitley said the impeachment notice is "an attempt to intimidate a judge and send a message to other judges that if you don't agree with us, 50 MPs are enough for a revenge action".

A day after the Supreme Court refused petitions seeking the Special Investigation Team (SIT) inquiry into Special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Judge B.H. Loya's death case, Gandhi scion Rahul said that there is hope and millions of Indians can watch the truth.

"A detailed analysis of the facts and the role played by some groups is necessary since I suspect such attempts will also be made in the future", Jaitley said. "India will not allow Judge Loya to be forgotten". He also added that articles in the media on Justice Loya's death were "deliberately generated fake news where falsehood was manufactured to generate a massive public controversy". Is the impeachment motion filed today a direct result of the press conference?

Jaitley said that what has happened today is a "price" the Indian judiciary has to pay for misadventures of many.

Maharashtra-based journalist B S Lone and activist Tehseen Poonavala had filed independent pleas seeking a fair probe into his death alleging that he died under mysterious circumstances.
