  • Trump's personal lawyer Michael Cohen exits a hotel in New York City U.S

Sean Hannity denied Monday that he was represented by Michael Cohen after the longtime Trump confidant's attorney said that the Fox News host was a previously unnamed client of Cohen.

Cohen was in court to ask the judge to limit the ability of federal prosecutors to review documents seized from his offices and home last week as part of a criminal investigation, which stems in part from a probe into possible collusion between Trump's presidential campaign and Russian Federation.

The Latest on efforts by President Donald Trump and his personal lawyer to stop criminal prosecutors from reviewing materials seized in raids before they have a chance to review them for potential breach of attorney-client privilege. As such, it makes us wonder if his extensive and positive coverage of both the president and his attorney couldn't be seen as conflicting once you understand that he as a news personality has influence over the viewership. And Hannity is now considered one of the president's closest unofficial media advisers.

The names of Cohen's clients are at issue because the lawyer has argued that materials seized in an Federal Bureau of Investigation raid on his home and office are subject to attorney-client privilege.

Adult-film actress Stephanie Clifford, also known as Stormy Daniels speaks US Federal Court with her lawyer Michael Avenatti (R) on April 16, 2018, in Lower Manhattan, New York. She then rolled a clip of Hannity offering Cohen a platform to say he'd never been to Prague.

It's not yet clear what services Cohen said he allegedly provided Hannity. How can a network claim to be "fair and balanced" when their top anchor has a relationship with Cohen - Trump's enforcer and main conduit for info and shady deals?

Hannity said that his wife would "have a field day" with his forgetting Michael D. Cohen's name, because she always teases him for "having a brain like a sieve".

"But I have occasionally had brief discussions with him about legal questions about which I wanted his input and perspective", he added.

"I don't mean to laugh, but it's just, these people-I did an opening monologue just in the last segment how journalism is dead", Hannity said "It's buried".

"Under the President's theory, every person who has communicated with a lawyer would be given the power to turn every search warrant into a subpoena and to demand the return of lawfully-seized evidence in order to undertake their own review of the evidence".

The legal showdown began last week when FBI agents searched Cohen's office, home, hotel room and safe-deposit box, seizing records and documents as part of a probe by federal prosecutors in NY into possible bank fraud and wire fraud.

Mr Cohen's lawyers did not detail the type of legal work he did for Hannity.

Prosecutors have asked that the seized documents be reviewed for attorney-client privilege by a "filter team" of lawyers within their own office, who would be walled off from the main prosecution team.

"I have faith in the Southern District US Attorney's Office that their integrity is unimpeachable", making a taint team "a viable option", Judge Wood said. For Broidy, Cohen helped pay $1.6 million to a Playboy playmate with whom he had an affair - not to be confused with the Playboy playmate Trump allegedly canoodled. I never received an invoice.

After last week's raid on Mr Cohen's offices, Hannity took to the airwaves to denounce the probe as a "declared war against the president of the United States". Cohen arranged for the payment to be made and Trump told reporters last week he had no knowledge of it.
