The Android and iOS clients both use Material Design, but the web client's interface hasn't been updated for years.

A leaked e-mail about the update promises a "fresh, clean look" for Gmail with some new features, including a predictive "smart reply" feature for Gmail's web version. The self-destructing emails will allow the users to set a time for a week, month, or year or even multiple years. It seems that not only the design will change as Gmail is set to bring in a very important surprising new feature which was added by Google, and it was discovered shortly before the official release. Also, on the recipient end, Gmail will show the content of confidential emails as a link which will verify a user's identity before showing the email content. Best of all, we can see what these new emails will look like and how they generally behave.

The new "confidential mode" button, as demonstrated by the text just above it in the screenshot, prevents emails from being forwarded, downloaded, copy/pasted, or printed.

"When there's no Internet access, Google Go retries failed search requests in the background and lets you know as soon as the results are ready". The redesign might also include the option to snooze emails so they later appear in the inbox.

"We work hard to comply with the right to be forgotten, but we take great care not to remove search results that are in the public interest", Google said in a statement. Also, there might be other tools available in the market using which a user can record the email that they have received.

The redesigned Gmail will be available to its G Suite customers and general users as an early access program in coming few weeks. When it expires, it is automatically deleted from the inbox and the sender's inbox. The message behind the link disappears after some time, but this doesn't mean that the intermediate email also disappears. Enter your email to be subscribed to our newsletter.
