The actor was travelling with three other passengers in a SUV which overturned after the auto was struck by another vehicle on the freeway in Orange County, California, CNN reports.

A representative for Ferrell told TMZ that he has since been released from hospital and is doing well.

Ferrell was traveling in a SUV in Orange County, California on Thursday evening when a Toyota sideswiped him, causing his SUV to spin and flip over.

A statement issued by Ferrell's agency to US Weekly stated that the Step Brothers actor was one of three passengers riding in the chauffeured SUV at the time of the accident.

The two-vehicle crash occurred just south of Alicia Parkway about 10:55 p.m., Orange County Fire Authority Larry Kurtz said.


The driving force of the Toyota was not hurt and the crash is being investigated.

According to TMZ, Ferrell was in an SUV that reportedly flipped over in a two-car accident on Interstate 5 near Aliso Viejo in Southern California.
