New York Police hunting MMA star Conor McGregor following attack

The UFC star hit the headlines today after reportedly being charged with three counts of assault and one count of criminal mischief in the U.S., after furiously attacking a bus which was carrying his UFC rival Khabib Nurmagomedov.

McGregor was arrested and arraigned along with SBG Ireland teammate and fellow MMA fighter Cian Cowley. "I would think given the fact that assault charges are misdemeanors and the most serious charge is criminal mischief, it's unlikely he would face jail time", he went on to say.

Conor McGregor's bail was set at $50,000 during his arraignment hearing on Friday in Brooklyn Criminal Court, while he is due back in court on June 14.

As the media day finished up, McGregor crashed the conference with his entourage going insane, attacking a bus, leaving UFC lightweight fighter Michael Chiesa reportedly injured during the onslaught.

UFC President Dana White said Friday he spoke to McGregor via text and the brawler said the confrontation was something that "had to be done".

When asked on ESPN's Get Up whether he would try to help McGregor, White said he was on his own. But not in this situation. UFC is working very closely with the New York Athletic Commission, Barclays Center security and law enforcement authorities.

Two athletes were wounded, forcing them to be pulled from the upcoming UFC 223 card, the Ultimate Fighting Championship confirmed. He said McGregor was "apologetic about the people he wasn't trying to hurt".

The UFC released two different videos of McGregor heaving items, including a metal barrier and a hand truck, at a packed bus full of fighters.

McGregor has not fought in UFC since beating Eddie Alvarez in November 2016 and was stripped of his lightweight title before this incident. McGregor responded on Twitter not long after with a profane tweet that said, in part, you will "strip me of nothing".

The NYPD is investigating how Conor McGregor's mugshot made its way onto the internet.

In February, McGregor said he had offered to fight at UFC 222 but was denied.

During a hiatus from UFC, McGregor took up boxing and lost to Floyd Mayweather in a money-spinning bout last August.

Later that day, McGregor appeared in court in NY where he was told he would be allowed to fly back to his home in Ireland ahead of his next appearance on June 14.
