  • The Things You need to know about Huawei P20

Talking about the storage, both smartphones have 128GB internal storage which is expandable through a hybrid SIM/memory card slot.

Huawei sold the third most smartphones globally past year with 11 percent of the market, trailing Samsung's 22 percent and Apple's 15 percent, according to data from IDC. Well it is, sort of, but that's not really what Huawei seems to be going after in this new rendition.

Huawei Consumer Business Group CEO Richard Yu announced at the event that the company has skipped the P11 model after P10 and jumped straight to P20. However, the camera modules are placed in the middle of the rear panel, rather than being on the top left corner as on P20 Pro.

Both the Huawei P20 and P20 Pro are dual-SIM smartphones that run on EMUI 8.1 based on Android 8.1 Oreo.

Huawei is the world's third-largest smartphone brand, and it has managed to do so without setting foot in the US. The Chinese company has teamed up with Porsche Design to create a luxury smartphone, which is heavily inspired by the Mate 10.

Also worth noting is the P20 Series new aesthetic.

Huawei chose Paris, the City of Light, for Tuesday's massive P20 launch.

However, Huawei has decided the scanner is best on the front and has included a thin chin on the bottom of the phone to accommodate this security feature. The topmost lens bears an 8-megapixel sensor with 3x optical zoom thanks to its Leica telephoto lens (VARIO-SUMMILUX-H 1:1.6-2.4/27-80ASPH). Its highly sensitive image sensor is capable of capturing low light photos with up to ISO 102400. While the Samsung Galaxy S9 and iPhone X each boast a dual-lens camera, Huawei believes three is far from a crowd.

Talking of the performance, the P20 fits in an HiSilicon Kirin 970 chipset which is an octa-core processor.

Huawei AIS (AI Image Stabilization) steadies handheld night shots to make long exposure images of up to six seconds without a tripod possible. In this mode, the camera predicts moving objects and focuses on them with extreme efficiency to capture minute details of objects in motion. Best Buy is also reportedly going to cut ties with Huawei.

Additionally, the HUAWEI HiAI Ecosystem enhances a variety of app experiences.

In partnership with Google, the Huawei P20 Series supports Google ARCore, delivering advanced AR capabilities.

It may seem excessive, but the new Huawei P20 smartphone has four cameras - one on the front and an unprecedented three on the back. For both phones, Huawei has also adopted the "notch" on its display which houses a selfie camera and an earpiece. The 6-inch OLED 2K curved screen PORSCHE DESIGN HUAWEI Mate RS is available in Black, and for the first time, in an eye-catching Red***.

The phone packs in a 5.8-inch Full HD+ LCD display with a notch on the top. It sports the same 4000mAh battery as the P20 Pro, with Huawei SuperCharge fast charging support.
