Löw not too worried after Germany suffer defeat to Brazil

  • ONLY Brazil x Germany World Cup 2014 Kroos

Their flawless qualification with 10 wins out of 10 matches, in which they conceded just four goals, and their 22-game unbeaten run going into Tuesday's encounter had helped give them an air of invincibility.

Isco scored a hat-trick as Spain hammered an Argentina side without Lionel Messi 6-1 in a friendly on March 27, while Brazil defeated Germany 1-0 in their first meeting since the 2014 World Cup.

The Germans, who fielded a second string team, were far from convincing against the five-time world champions, eager to earn back some pride after their 7-1 semi-final loss to Germany in the World Cup four years ago. "This shirt demands more respect", the PSG defender said. "That's why I'm overjoyed about winning against a big opponent".

Paulinho, Philippe Coutinho and Jesus all squandered opportunities to double down on their dominance in the second period, with Germany looking a shadow of the side that won their World Cup qualifying group with a 100 per cent record.

"It was to be expected that Brazil, with their injured soul, played their best team and were highly motivated".

"It wasn't our day". We made too many unforced errors and made Brazil stronger.

"We had a few young players on the pitch today".

With Thomas Mueller and Mesut Ozil rested, Boateng and Toni Kroos were the only members of the Germany team which routed Brazil almost four years ago.

It was another boost for Brazil in their pursuit of a sixth World Cup crown and veteran centre-back Silva was bullish post-match. Football's mightiest nation Brazil, on home soil, were 5-0 down after just 29 minutes of their semi-final against European heavyweights Germany.

"We are learning to play well without Neymar and that is part of our strength", said the Brazil boss.

With Brazil star Neymar still sidelined by a foot injury, Tite made just one change - Fernandinho for Douglas Costa - from the side which beat Russian Federation 3-0 in Moscow on Friday.

There was some relief for Loew after Germany captain Jerome Boateng twisted ankle ligaments and had to come off in the second half.

He made amends in the next attack, however, heading towards goal from Willian's superb cross, with Germany goalkeeper Kevin Trapp failing to keep the ball out despite getting a firm touch.

The Manchester City forward met Willian's cross, and Trapp could only parry his header which looped over the line.
