The Congress responded on Twitter saying it was forced to remove the app as an incorrect link was being circulated and people were being misled.

The war of words between the Congress and the BJP on "data sharing" spiralled on Monday.

The BJP's online showcase for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the NaMo App asks users for permissions of 22 personal features on their devices, including location, photographs, and contacts, microphone, and camera.

Alderson, who initially pointed out that the Modi app was sharing data with a third party without the consent of users, earlier on Sunday posted a new tweet saying the app had "quietly" updated its privacy policy after his previous tweets. A day later, Alderson's scrutiny of the Congress app led to disclosure that the With Inc's server could be located in Singapore. The Congress, however, claimed it had not done so.

Hi! My name is Rahul Gandhi. "Such irresponsible remarks should be condemned", the former Prime Minister said.

Stating that the people of the State will see through the JD (S) designs, Siddharamaiah said that the Congress will hold a mammoth rally at Palace Grounds in Bengaluru on Apr.6 to display the party's strength. "The new age is the age of information which Rahul Gandhiji fails to understand", Patra said.

A comparative analysis of the official app of the Prime Minister's Office, PMO India App, asks users to volunteer - access to 14 data points. "Instead of #DeleteNaMoApp, they have deleted the Congress App itself", she tweeted.

Referring to Congress website "withdrawing" the membership App during the day (on Monday), he said while in 2019 the country will be heading for a "Congress-mukt India", it is wonderful to note that the "Playstore is already without the Congress".

BJP clarified that all information given on the Namo App is completely safe and Congress is spreading a canard on the matter. People generally take these quite lightly, but they can be sources of serious data theft.

Rahul Gandhi's jibe comes close on the heels of the Cambridge Analytica data leak controversy, where the data analysis firm is at the heart of the case involving alleged breach of Facebook user data.
