Snow forces NASCAR to postpone Cup race in Virginia

26 March, 2018, 01:18 | Author: Lula Armstrong

On Sunday, it was announced the Cup series race at Martinsville Speedway had been postponed to Monday due to inclement weather.

Snow that fell Saturday night has effectively made racing impossible today, and NASCAR has postponed both the Cup Series and Truck Series races until Monday, March 26. Both races will still be televised on Fox Sports One.

"Way more snow than anticipated last night", he wrote.

The difference is now the order in which they will be run.

It's not often that snow interferes with NASCAR race weekends, but it does happen on occasion.

Rain and light snow started falling Saturday afternoon and continued into the night, creating risky driving conditions on nearby roads and leaving little chance of getting the track cleared and dry enough to race Sunday.

This storm, fortunately, isn't almost on that scale.

See the full starting lineup for the rescheduled Monday race. That puts Martin Truex Jr. and Kyle Busch on the front row for the start of the race.

The Alpha Energy Solutions 250 will resume at the point it was suspended on Saturday with pole-winner Ben Rhodes in the lead.
