Swansea, playing in their first FA Cup quarter-final since 1964, were without cup-tied striker Andre Ayew and his bother Jordan, who was suspended, and offered little resistance as the visitors enjoyed a comfortable 90 minutes.

Mauricio Pochettino's men cruised into the last four with a hugely impressive 3-0 win and their progress looked certain from the start. "It's important to go to the semi-final and to have the possibility to fight for the trophy", Pochettino gushed after the tie at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday.

"The team played so well, 3-0...we deserved more". "I'm very happy and very pleased".

"I'm in a very good place, but not sure it's the best I've been", he told BT Sport.

Tottenham might even have had the game sewn up by half-time, but Son Heung-min's effort was ruled out for offside after consultation with the video assistant referee (VAR).

It took just 11 minutes for Christian Eriksen to open the scoring, on the back of some good Spurs pressure.

Once again, Swansea were chasing shadows and when Sissoko played in Lamela the Argentinian skipped past Tom Carroll and calmly passed the ball into the corner of the goal before Nordfeldt had time to move. "We were clinical, we dominated, we had possession, we created chances, everything".

Attacking the box centrally, he shimmied one way and then other, rolled his foot over the ball and sold dummies as he got closer and closer.

The hosts rallied after the break and visiting keeper Michel Vorm had to be at his best against his former side to keep out efforts from Martin Olsson and Tammy Abraham. He pulled the his pass back and Eriksen drove home.

The eight-time winners have lost seven successive semi-finals and have not tasted FA Cup glory for 27 years, the days of Paul Gascoigne and Gary Lineker, but they will be dreaming now, especially as they are so familiar with Wembley.

Tottenham could've added more goals late on but they settled for three goals as Swansea were in full damage limitation mode. However whilst fans may be excited by the arrival of the young defender, many began to express their outrage at the reported £40m asking price.

Subs not used: Lloris, Aurier, Alderweireld, Foyth, Dembele.
