  • Apple's Field Trip event is on! Are new iPads or MacBooks coming?

We've certainly seen a lot of rumors about a new iPhone SE and an iPad with Face ID, so there's a good chance we could be seeing one of those arrive at the event.

Apple has begun sending invitations to members of the media to attend its upcoming March 27 event.

In recent months, Apple and Tim Cook have been pushing the company's education agenda hard with a series of teaching and training events taking place at Apple stores globally.

Looking at the email, it looks like this event will have a focus on the iPad and hand writing, as "Let's take a field trip" appears to be written by hand.

The stylish pen-and-ink drawing has caused many sites to speculate that the announcements may relate to the Apple Pencil, with some rumors suggesting the company might introduce a lower-priced 9.7-inch iPad. New iPads have been rumored for later this year as well, but it's unlikely that an education-focused iPad would include the new and expensive FaceID camera.

It's unclear what products will be shown off at the event and the invite doesn't give us much to go on. Some analysts believe an updated MacBook Air may also include a more affordable price-between $799 and $899-and Apple could spin it as a lower-cost, educational device for high school and college-aged students.
