Rescue workers survey the wreckage of the plane which crashed attempting to land at Kathmandu airport, Nepal, March 12, 2018.

"The team will take stock of those deceased and injured in the plane crash".

The US-Bangla Airlines plane was carrying 71 people and burst into flames as it landed on Monday, according to reports. Families of some of the victims mourned outside the hospitals.

Sultan had more than 5,000 hours flying experience and was specially trained to land at the airport, Islam said.

The Dhaka-based airline made its first worldwide flight in May 2016 to Kathmandu, and has since expanded with routes to South Asia, the Middle East and Southeast Asia. "Looks like they are really confused", a man, talking about the plane, is heard saying in Nepali, according to the Associated Press.

Meanwhile, CAAN has said that the radio conversation between Air Traffic Controller at TIA and flight pilot, which was leaked to the media, was unlawful and that the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) will conduct investigation into the matter.

Just before landing, the pilot asked, "Are we cleared to land?" "We suspect wrong signals from Kathmandu air traffic control room might have led to the crash", Asif told reporters on Monday. Seconds after that, the controller ordered firetrucks onto the runway.

Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS), state run news agency of Nepal quoting its home ministry has reported that 22 Nepalis, 28 Bangladeshis and a Chinese passenger have lost their lives in the accident -the third deadliest aviation accident involving an global carrier.

"Hence, we've transferred them to other departments to reduce their stress post-crash", Rajan Pokharel, Deputy Director General of Civil Aviation Authority said.

Responding to question regarding the instruction given by ATC to flight pilot, Gautam said, "ATC had informed the flight pilot to land the plane on southern runway (02) but then the plane headed towards the northern runway (20)".

"The flight data recorder has been recovered, we have kept it safely", said Raj Kumar Chettri, the airport's general manager, adding that an investigation had begun into the cause of the crash.

He said the pilot, who initially survived the accident but succumbed to his injuries Tuesday, was a former air force officer. Gen. Gokul Bhandari, the Nepal army spokesman, said it was clear that at least 50 people had died. The 22 survivors of the crash are still receiving treatment in hospitals.

Officials at Kathmandu Medical College, the closest hospital to Nepal's only global airport, said they were treating 16 survivors of the Q400 crash, whose earlier versions were called Dash 8. Dr. M.A. Ansari of the hospital's forensic department said positively identifying all the dead could take as long as a week because numerous bodies were badly burned.
