Will Trump remove ICE from California?

And you know what? I am thinking about doing it. Either way, his threat reveals his ignorance both about our government and the law.

He segued from comments about the El Salvadoran gang MS-13 into a denunciation of California, CNBC reported.

Almost one quarter, or more than 2 million, of the country's estimated illegal alien population live in California, according to the Public Policy Institute of California. That led to his rant against California on Thursday.

If Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Border Patrol were told to leave California alone, "you'd see crime like nobody's ever seen crime in this country", Trump argued. "You'd see crime like you'd never seen in this country". But according to Fox News, he also said on Wednesday that the agency doesn't conduct raids.

Now consider what Trump is suggesting. In October, however, Governor Jerry Brown (D) signed a law declaring the entire state a sanctuary.

California politicians and law enforcement officials were quick to hit back at the president, saying Trump does not understand California's approach to tackling crime. "I'm enforcing the laws they enacted", said Homan, pushing back on the narrative that ICE is conducting indiscriminate "raids" targeting minorities. To claim that the state would experience "crime like they've never seen" diminishes the work that the state's police officers and sheriffs do every day. "They are doing a lousy management job", he went on to say.

State Sen. Kevin de Leon, a Los Angeles Democrat who authored the new law, said, "The president's plan sounds perfectly fine but we know that will never happen and we'll work with ICE to remove actual risky criminals from our neighborhoods". And they don't know what's happening out there.

"Consistent with our public safety mission, 88 percent of those arrested during this operation were convicted criminals".

As in California, Austin's sanctuary policies forced ICE to make at-large arrests in the community. How can this be considered leadership, to potentially abet violence and promise to stand by and do nothing?

Eighty-six of the 145 had criminal convictions and 39 were arrested based on previous "immigration encounters", ICE said.
