Prestigious LA School evacuated after ex-footballer's chilling threat

  • Carolina Panthers' Jonathan Martin arrives for an NFL football organized team activity in Charlotte N.C. Monday

Former Miami Dolphins and San Francisco 49ers offensive lineman Jonathan Martin posted a threatening photo to his Instagram account on Thursday evening, that has reportedly led to his former Southern California high school being shut down. Former Dolphins teammates Richie Incognito and Mike Pouncey, as well as two other people, were tagged in the post.

Harvard-Westlake School, an elite private school costing $38,000 a year and popular with celebrities, was forced to close its Studio City campus after one of its students highlighted the post as a possible "security threat" on social media, police said.

Law enforcement tells TMZ Sports.

"The individual we believe responsible for the social media post in question has been detained and our investigation is ongoing", the Los Angeles Police Department said in a statement to ESPN.

Martin was famously the subject of a 2013 scandal in which several Dolphins players, including Incognito and Pouncey, were found to have bullied Martin mercilessly. Incognito did not play the entire 2014 season, but later signed with the Buffalo Bills, where he still plays. The offensive guard is an alumni of the high school.

"When you're a bully victim and a coward, your options are suicide or revenge", the message read.

ABC News has reported that Martin has been taken into custody over the threat, although it's unknown what specific charges he might be facing.

A school in California was closed on Friday after a disturbing image was shared on the Instagram account of former National Football League player Jonathan Martin, who is an alumni of the school.

The image from Martin's verified Instagram account is about as scary as it gets.

Miami Dolphins tackle Jonathan Martin (71) at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Massachusetts on October 27, 2013. Police later determined there was "no credible threat" against the school. He later admitted to depression and said he had attempted suicide.

Martin's photo also included the hashtag #MiamiDolphins, the team that drafted him out of Stanford in 2012. The coaches also asked Incognito to "toughen up" Martin and Incognito took that as an invitation taunt and emotionally torture Martin endlessly.

It is unclear if Martin has been charged with a crime at this point in time.
