The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office has identified three men shot and killed on Mardi Gras in New Orleans. Another man shot during a separate fight, and died of two apparent bullet wounds after being rushed to the hospital, Police Chief Michael Harrison said. He later died from his injuries.

Police spokeswoman Ambria Washington said multiple suspects opened fire on a vehicle with five people inside.

The first one wounded two teens, who were in a group of about 10 people when one of them began shooting, police said in a news release.

News media reported that the shooting started at a house party a few blocks away from the petrol station.

The body of the victim who died could be seen in the back of a red Nissan sedan at the La Express gas. Three other victims were transported to the hospital in private vehicles.

Washington says no other information was available at this time. The gunfire left a 30-year-old man dead; officials have not released his name.

Carnival season draws about 1 million visitors and pumps about $840 million into the city's economy, according to the New Orleans Convention and Visitors Bureau. Police Commander Paul Noel said a fight broke out among a group of people and shots were fired. They watched the parades put on by Rex and Zulu as well as the truck parades that roll through the streets afterward.

However, sources close to the Comic Cowboys krewe told Yellowhammer News to expect them to be back at full strength for next Mardi Gras.

This year marks the 134th anniversary for the mystic society, which long-time observers described to be a little softer than past years given the focus on the group after last year's spectacle that some claimed crossed racial lines.

"Mardi Gras should be for everyone from 8 months to 88 years old", Stephens said.
