Attorney General Eric Schneiderman launched a civil rights investigation of the company last fall.

"The Weinstein Company repeatedly broke NY law by failing to protect its employees from pervasive sexual harassment, intimidation, and discrimination", said Schneiderman in a statement.

Schneiderman's lawsuit alleges numerous instances of alleged harassment by Weinstein, including claims that multiple groups of Weinstein Company employees were responsible for facilitating Harvey's sexual encounters.

Schneiderman says any sale of the company "must ensure that victims will be compensated" and that employees will be protected. The suit also names Weinstein's brother Bob, with whom he co-founded The Weinstein Company. The group, officially led by former Small Business Administration chief Maria Contreras-Sweet, was expected to seal a $500 million deal as soon as Sunday.

Weinstein's drivers in Los Angeles and NY were required to keep condoms and erectile dysfunction injections in the auto at all times, papers charge. Movie mogul Harvey Weinisten left his company amid allegations of sexual misconduct - which he has denied. "One of the members of this entourage was flown from London to NY to teach HW's assistants how to dress and smell more attractive to HW".

On another occasion, Weinstein allegedly exposed himself to a female employee and made her take dictation from him while he leered at her, naked on his bed.

Telephone and email messages seeking comment from Weinstein were not immediately returned.
