Manchester United were heavily interested in the Brazilian last term and Fabinho's admitted he's set to leave Monaco.

"I need to be careful around this, Woodward said".

Executive vice chairman Ed Woodward said the team's "solid business model" had still allowed it to "invest in the future of the club" by extending manager Jose Mourinho's contract as manager and acquiring Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal.

"There could be some news tomorrow, but more likely within a week or two". With the player also keen on the move, this one looks certain to happen come summer.

However, local rivals Manchester City now lead the Premier League with a handsome 13 point advantage over United.

The reforms by the US President saw the corporate tax rate cut from 35% to 21% late a year ago and the changes forced the American-owned club to make an accounting write-off of £48.8m.

With the rest of the continent's wealthiest football clubs not quite finished with signing every single player to have represented Monaco during last season - a campaign which saw them win the French league and embark on an exciting Champions League run - it's claimed United are "closing in" on a deal for Fabinho.

Revenue for the second quarter is up four per cent to £163.9m, but the accounts show a £29m loss for the period.

Sky and BT have broadcast the Premier League in the United Kingdom live since 2013, with the last sale in 2015 bringing the overall value of the rights to £5.14bn and £10m a game.

In a bid to keep the price of rights rising and encourage potential other bidders such as tech giants Amazon and Facebook, 200 games will be broadcast live, up from 168 in the current deal, in a range of packages.

Jose Mourinho has identified Fabinho as one of his summer transfer targets with a move of almost £50m expected.

Shaw, who didn't make his first Premier League appearance this season until 13th December, has been linked with a number of moves away from the club.
