With half a dozen five-star prospects already signed during the early signing period, top-ranked Georgia is on course to gain further distance ahead of the chase pack in the recruiting rankings.

Georgia owned the top spot almost two weeks ago before 247Sports and Rivals updated their classes. Ohio State and Texas were ranked second and third.

Tampa's Nicholas Petit-Frere (Berkeley Prep) is the third-best player in the Sunshine State and the top offensive tackle who has been coveted by Ohio State and Florida.

The 6-foot-2, 1/2, 185-pound Campbell is rated as the No. 12 overall prospect on the 247Sports Composite.

Walker had been committed to Alabama since June, but he announced Wednesday morning that he will instead sign with Georgia. Georgia also landed a commitment from 4-star 2019 tight end Ryland Goede.

With Walker committing, along with 5-star cornerback Tyson Campbell, 4-star wide receiver Tommy Bush and 4-star outside linebacker Otis Reese, the Bulldogs have the No. 1 class in the country.

Despite owning the top class, Georgia didn't stop there. The Bulldogs also have quarterback Justin Fields of Harrison High School in Kennesaw, Ga, who is considered by some to be the No. 1 player in the class.
